Here is a coco back that I finished up last night. I got this set from Brock...Eh Brock see where those two knots fell, out of the pattern and somewhat under the braces. This is for a fella that both John How and I share as a customer...

Its on to the rosettes now...

Immaculate and clean execution from you as usual. Lovely looking piece of wood to. It never ceases to amaze me how you keep the braces so clean with a wood like cocobolo

I love that coco. I am just so leary about working with it due to skin/respiratory issues. It's reputation scares me after having a reaction to pau ferro. It sure is pretty though, nice work.

No finish, just a wipe down of denatured alcohol to clean up the squeeze out. I use epoxy to glue braces to Cocobolo. Great tip I got from Brock..

Lance, do you use the 24 hr cure of the quick set epoxy for this?

I once had one brace pop off using LMI white and have been a little leary since, although I blame my self, I probably starved the joint.

very nice work. I am also building a guitar with cocobola and i have had problems with bleeding stain under the finnish from the cocobola trim what type of finnish will you use and what type of prep will you do before you finnish Lee

Terry,
I usually start by sealing the guitar with shellac while doing the bindings, rosette etc. After all the trim has been done, gap filling and final sanding I coat it with zpoxy which both pops the figure and seals the grain. After that I pack it up and send it off to Tony Ferguson. Tony's shots it and send it back.

I really want to give Addam Stark a try but I am to scared to send a guitar cross counry when Tony is just 2 hours away.
